Patient Case
A 60-year-old patient underwent total thyroidectomy due to progressive enlargement of the thyroid, particularly in the right lobe, resulting in a 508g specimen with an uneven and firm surface. Microscopic examination of sections from the thyroid revealed multiple nodules permeated by a gelatinous substance that contacted the capsule.
